Narrabri sits on the Namoi River in North West NSW, on the Newell Highway roughly halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. Agriculture and mining anchor the local economy, with health care, education and trades also steady employers.

Walk to Sawn Rocks in Mount Kaputar National Park, fish the Namoi River, or follow a bird route. The Pilliga adds guided tours and dark skies.

Maitland Street is the main shopping strip, with major supermarkets alongside bakeries, butchers and family-owned stores.

Entertainment & evenings out
The Crossing Theatre runs two cinemas, a licensed café and four event spaces for screenings and live performances throughout the year.

TAFE NSW Narrabri and Country University Centre Narrabri cover trades and university access, alongside short courses through Community College Northern Inland. The CREATE Festival brings the Shire’s arts and cultural community together each spring.
